Senate Bill 56 (Group Benefits Program), authored by Senator Robert Barham (R), according to the summary on the Legislature’s website, “Enables certain state employees and officials to continue membership in State Group Benefits Insurance Plan [health insurance] for payment of 100 % of premium after state service ends.”
Evidently, this bill made it out of committee. The selling point is that the program won’t cost the taxpayer a thin dime. Yeah, right.
We’ll learn more tomorrow, on The Moon Griffon Show, from C.B. Forgotston and his analysis of the current form of the bill.
That said, for your reading pleasure…
On a lighter and better note, at 1:00 pm, today, the Legislature will vote on HB 248 to change the hours at election polling places. Currently, the hours are from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. Today’s vote, if successful, will change the hours to 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. That’s infinitely more reasonable, for myriad reasons, so please call your Representatives and advise them to vote FOR the bill.
